PENSACOLA, Fla. – Using a well-balanced approach, Pensacola FC is still very much in the hunt for the League For Clubs-Gulf Coast Conference title.

On the strength of a five-game win streak where the side owns a 14-2 scoring edge, Pensacola FC has built one of the better defensive and offensive teams not only in its conference but overall this season.

Overall, the side is 8-1-0 overall and technically tied with Union 10 FC at the top of the standings. Pensacola does have a plus-26 scoring differential and Union 10 FC a plus-24, but both own an identical record in the division heading into the home stretch.

So far this season, Pensacola has outscored its opposition 31-5 with five shutouts while the team has only been shut out one time this season and that was the side’s only loss to Tallahassee FC (1-0).

The team has not since then and is now on a five-game win streak after starting 3-1-0. Pensacola is averaging 3.45 goal-per-game while defensively it holds a sterling 0.55 goals-against-average as a team.

The team is led by Gabriel Mendoza, the team’s No. 1 goalkeeper along with backup Cooper Jennings, as both provide steady hands under the framework. Kennedy Hernandez, Mohammed Ashabot, Aaron Boateng, Rodrigo Bacci and Joao Ribeiro Dos Santos are some of the top defenders on the team as center backs or marking backs.

Offensively, Bruno Marques is second in the Gulf Coast Conference in goal with nine tallies on the year. Josiah Fontenot has six goals and is tied for fourth in the conference, while Rodrigo Bacci has five goals and is tied for sixth. Kenta Yagi (three goals), Alex Gravel (two goals) and Colin Spuler (two goals) have also been factors. There are four players on the roster that have one goal apiece, while the team does not list assists totals on its site.

Pensacola FC is back in action at home on July 3 against Sowegens at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex. The team has still not played Union 10 FC.
