New York City FC dropped a 2-1 decision to Sporting Kansas City in their second match of the 2026 Coachella Valley Invitational.
Sporting Kansas City took control in the first half behind goals from forward Calvin Harris and attacker Dejan Joveljić, carrying a two-goal advantage into halftime.
New York City FC responded with increased intensity after the break. Forward Seymour Reid converted from the penalty spot to cut the deficit in half and spark momentum for the Boys in Blue. Despite sustained second-half pressure, NYCFC was unable to find the equalizer.

New York City FC will conclude play at the 2026 Coachella Valley Invitational against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, February 14 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
