Soccer News from South Carolina
UPSL Premier Teams Continue to Post Wins
It was another strong weekend for the South Carolina based USPL Premier teams as three of the four clubs picked up big wins over the Easter weekend. The South Carolina United Heat remain undefeated at the top of the UPSL Premier Mid-Atlantic South table with a wild 6-4 win over the Coastal Kings. Alex Lopez scored a hat trick and Tom Marriott scored a brace as the Heat blasted four goals in 10 minutes during a stretch of the second half to pull away for the victory. Not to be outdone in the capital city, Soda City’s Caree Collier netted a hat trick of his own to lead Soda over the NC Ballers on Easter afternoon. Jose Flores also scored a brace as the third place Soda City won 6-1 over the bottom-of-the-table Ballers. The SC Surf picked up a 1-0 win over Charlotte SA on the road in North Carolina as Steven Rocca provided the lone tally of the match. The Surf are undefeated in second place and host a massive match on April 12 as the first-place, undefeated Heat travel to the Lowcountry. The only South Carolina based club to suffer defeat was the newly promoted Electric City squad that fell 2-5 on the road at the Combine Academy. Electric sitting in 10th place will host the 5th place Gastonia FC Striker on April 11.

Battery Earns Massive Result on the Road in Kentucky
The Charleston Battery spoiled the incredible home record of Louisville City as they won 2-0 in the Bluegrass state last Saturday. The win was the Battery’s first road win versus Lou City in the all-time series and snapped Louisville’s 26-game unbeaten streak at home. Laurent Kissiedou and Kirill Pakhomov scored the Battery goals while keeper Luis Zamudio went all 90 minutes in the nets for the shutout win. The Battery now sit in third place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings and travel to Brooklyn FC on April 11 before returning to the Point versus the Rowdies on April 18.
Triumph Slip Away in Naples
The Greenville Triumph slipped 0-1 on the road at FC Naples last weekend in the Sunshine state. Trailing at the half, the Triumph made a strong push to level the match down the stretch but were just unable to apply the final touch to the ball on several occasions in the loss. The Triumph now enter a bye weekend and break from USL League One action and will next play at the USLC Pittsburgh Riverhounds in their first group stage match of the USL Prinx Tires Cup on April 25.
Bantams Name Osborne USLW Head Coach
Tanner Osborne is the new South Carolina United Bantams USL W-League head coach. The Lexington, SC native is an ECNL coach with South Carolina United and brings collegiate experience at both Presbyterian College and USC-Columbia to the club this spring. The first match of the Osborne era will be May 17 on the road at Wake FC before opening the 2026 home dates versus the Carolina Courage on May 20.
