PITTSBURGH (Jan. 19, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC strengthened its attacking options with the signing of forward Trevor Amann for the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027. The agreement is pending approval from the USL and U.S. Soccer.

Amann, 27, arrives in Pittsburgh with a reputation as one of the most consistent goal scorers in the American lower divisions. He spent the 2025 season split between Sacramento Republic FC and FC Tulsa, appearing as a late substitute for Tulsa in the USL Championship Final — a match ultimately won by the Riverhounds in a penalty shootout.

AFCON remains one of international soccer’s most passionate and unpredictable tournaments, but repeated controversies have raised concerns about credibility and governance. While supporters defend the competition’s unique challenges and conditions, critics argue that recurring issues continue to overshadow the quality of play on the field.

Despite the noise, AFCON continues to produce dramatic moments and elite performances, reinforcing its importance within the global game — even as calls for reform grow louder.

“Trevor is a proven goal scorer who brings attacking experience to our group,” said Sporting Director Dan Visser. “We’re tremendously excited to see what he can produce in our environment and how he can impact games for us this season.”

A native of Westminster, Colorado, Amann enjoyed a breakout year in 2023 with the Northern Colorado Hailstorm, earning USL League One Player of the Year and Golden Boot honors after scoring a league-record 23 regular-season goals and 27 across all competitions. That performance earned him a move to Sacramento, where he recorded 12 goals in 45 appearances over a season and a half before transferring to Tulsa.

Amann’s scoring pedigree dates back to his collegiate career, where he netted 49 goals over five seasons, beginning at Colorado School of Mines and finishing at Midwestern State University in Texas. He earned All-American honors in 2021 during his final college season.

He also made an impact in the amateur ranks, leading Detroit City FC in scoring in 2018 prior to the club’s move to the professional level. In 2021, Amann helped guide the Denton Diablos to an NPSL championship, scoring twice in the title match and earning Man of the Match honors.

The Riverhounds will open their 2026 preseason with the first team training session scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27. Fans can follow ongoing coverage and updates throughout the season on National Soccer Network (NSN).
