CHICAGO — Chicago Stars FC has officially finalized its stadium plans for the 2026 NWSL season, announcing today that the club will play the entirety of its home schedule at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston.
The decision comes after a period of evaluation regarding a potential move to the new Ryan Field. In a formal statement, the club confirmed it will not proceed with an application for a unique use permit for Ryan Field at this time, citing a desire to align with Northwestern University’s phased opening of the new facility and to foster better dialogue with the local community.
"Our goal has always been one of unity—galvanizing the Evanston community in support of the club, our athletes, and the advancement of equity for women's sports," the Chicago Stars FC organization stated. "We have heard a call for more dialogue and understanding about who we are and the impact our presence will have on the community."
Commitment to Evanston
By committing to Martin Stadium for the full 2026 campaign, the Stars aim to provide stability for their fans while continuing to integrate into the Evanston fabric. The club plans to host a series of town halls and civic engagement events throughout the year to address community feedback and build long-term relationships with residents.
The move to Martin Stadium offers an intimate, lakeside professional environment that has recently undergone renovations to accommodate high-level collegiate and professional soccer. The setting is expected to provide a unique "home-field" advantage as the Stars look to establish their identity in their inaugural season.
Home Opener Approaching
With the stadium logistics settled, the club’s full attention has shifted to the pitch. The Stars are set to host their 2026 Home Opener this Sunday, March 22, against the Kansas City Current.
"We are turning our full attention to delivering an exceptional inaugural season at Martin Stadium," the club added. "We encourage the entire community to come out on March 22 to see what we're all about and experience firsthand the future we hope to build together."
Match Information:
Opponent: Kansas City Current
Date: Sunday, March 22, 2026

Tickets for the home opener and the remainder of the 2026 season are currently available through the club’s official ticketing platform. The Stars are coming off a difficult road loss to Angel City FC and will be hungry to secure their first points of the season in front of a hometown Evanston crowd.
