ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Following a historic result in the mountains of Colorado, St. Louis CITY SC returns to the Gateway City to host LAFC this Wednesday at Energizer Park. The matchup marks St. Louis’ first midweek MLS fixture of the 2026 campaign, pitting a surging home side against a star-studded Los Angeles squad currently occupying the top tier of the Western Conference.

The evening will also serve as Mental Health Awareness Night, with the club celebrating the "We Belong Here" initiative and providing the first 10,000 fans through the gates with a commemorative friendship bracelet set courtesy of BJC HealthCare.

Momentum from the Mile High City

St. Louis enters Wednesday’s match riding the high of their first road victory and clean sheet of the season—a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids last Saturday.

The match was decided by a clinical 26th-minute strike from Sangbin Jeong, who netted his first goal of the 2026 season. The play highlighted the team’s directness, beginning with a goal kick from captain Roman Bürki that was flicked on by Simon Becher. For Bürki, it was his third career MLS assist, while Becher moved into a tie for the team lead with his third helper of the season. The result marked the first time in franchise history that CITY SC secured all three points at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Scouting the Black and Gold

Despite sitting in third place in the Western Conference with 21 points (6-3-3), LAFC arrives in Missouri looking to steady the ship. The Black and Gold are coming off a bruising 4-1 home defeat to the Houston Dynamo and have struggled for consistency of late, posting a 1-2-2 record over their last five outings.

However, the individual talent in Steve Cherundolo’s side remains a massive threat:

  • Denis Bouanga: The lethal Designated Player leads the team with five goals.

  • Son Heung-Min: The international superstar has been a creative force, racking up a team-high eight assists.

  • Road Form: LAFC has been respectable away from BMO Stadium this year, carrying a 2-1-2 record on the road.
