KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Los Angeles FC secured a 2-0 win on the road against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Children’s Mercy Park.

David Martínez and Aaron Long scored for LAFC, each netting their second goal of the season. Long’s first goal came in Concacaf play. At 19 years and 43 days old, Martínez became the youngest player in MLS history to record a goal contribution in five consecutive road matches.

LAFC took the lead in the 18th minute with a powerful strike from Martínez. Capitalizing on a poor pass from Sporting KC, Mark Delgado intercepted the ball and quickly advanced before passing to Martínez, who entered the box and delivered a decisive shot into the roof of the net.

A leaping save from Hugo Lloris in the final moments of the first half preserved LAFC’s lead heading into halftime.

Long doubled the advantage in the 54th minute, finishing off a Cengiz Ünder free kick. Ryan Hollingshead’s diving header was initially saved by Sporting KC goalkeeper John Pulskamp, but Long was in position to score on the rebound.

LAFC’s defensive resilience and a series of late substitutions helped secure the 2-0 result. The win improved LAFC’s all-time record against Sporting KC to 8-4-2 in regular-season play, including a 5-2-0 mark at Children’s Mercy Park.

LAFC returns to action on Saturday, March 29, against San Diego FC at Snapdragon Stadium. The match, the first-ever meeting between the clubs, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
