MICHIGAN GIRLS SOCCER: Stevenson moves into MAC-White driver’s seat; Fremont remains unbeaten; New Boston Huron hands Milan first loss; Unity Christian, Holt post shutouts

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Sterling Heights Stevenson has moved into the Macomb Area Conference White Division driver’s seat.
The Titans, who finished fourth last season and fifth two years ago, continued their rebuild Monday night with a 3-1 victory over host St. Clair Shores Lakeview in MAC-White Division play.
Presley Jones added to her career scoring record by scoring all three goals for Stevenson (6-2-1, 4-0-1). Laila Martin picked up an assist while Ava McGowan, Alyssa McGowan and Isabelle Reda starred on the defensive end for the Titans.
Lakeview dropped its first game of the season, moving to 5-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play. Tessa Brown scored for the Huskies.
FREMONT 6, MANISTEE 1: The best start in program history continued for Fremont on Monday.
The Packers moved to 7-0-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in the West Michigan Conference with this win over Manistee, which suffered its first loss of the season and fell into third place in the league.
Maddie Mater led the way with two goals and two assists. Riley Chase added two goals, Esther Vissia supplied a goal and two assists, and Anna Norris also scored for the Packers, who held a 16-3 edge on shots.
On the year, Fremont has outscored its opposition 37-5 overall with three shutouts.
NEW BOSTON HURON 3, MILAN 1: New Boston Huron captured its seventh straight win, and handed Milan its first loss in the process Monday. Avery Turk, Miley Skamiera scored goals for the Chiefs in this Huron League contest, while Brooklyn Burke notched the win in goal for Huron (7-1-1, 5-0-0), which moved into first place alone with the victory. Huron owns a 39-9 scoring edge this season. Milan picked up a goal from Aubrey Higgins, but the Big Reds (5-1-0, 4-1-0) fell into second place in the eight-school league.
HUDSONVILLE UNITY CHRISTIAN 2, ZEELAND EAST 0: Unity Christian, the top-ranked team in Division 2 and ranked 16th nationally by the United Soccer Coaches, improved to 8-0-1 this season and 4-0-0 in the new OKC-Black Division with this road win Monday. Avery Lutke scored both goals, giving her 11 goals and nine assists this season, and Tessa Ponstein also scored for the Crusaders. Kenidee Krump and Payton Barendsen shared the shutout in net, Unity’s eighth straight clean sheet. The Crusaders now own a 38-1 scoring edge this season and have not allowed a goal since a season-opening win over Division 4 second-ranked Muskegon Western Michigan Christian (2-1).
HOLT 3, WILLIAMSTON 0: Holt scored all three goals in the first half as Sawyer Nelson netted the opener in the 11th minute after Kara Barker’s shot grazed off the post. Barker tapped in a rebound following a shot by Rylie Ysasiin the 28th minute and Rylie Ysasi finished off her goal from a through ball from Ava Stowell in the 35th. Nylah Dunham picked up her first varsity shutout on the strength of 10 saves for the Rams (1-4-2). The match was also the first non-CAAC Cup match vs. Williamston since 1998 and most goals the Rams netted against Williamston since 1997. It was also the first meeting since CAAC consolation game in 2017 and first win against Williamston since a Gold Cup quarterfinal victory in 2013
ESSEXVILLE GARBER 7, ALMA 0: Emma Kelly and Avery Nearman both scored two goals and Garber moved to 7-0-0 overall and 5-0-0 in the Tri Valley Conference Red Division with the lopsided win. Olivia Aguirre chipped in with a goal and two assists, Daniela Nieto Martino added a goal and an assist and Iva Bebow also scored for Essexville Garber. Gabi Aguirre, Claire Arnold and Carly Arnold also drew single assists, while Aushlund

MUSKEGON MONA SHORES 5, LUDINGTON 2: Mona Shores stepped outside of OKC Green Division play and recorded this non-conference win over the Orioles. Olivia Naylor scored twice, while Addison Fisher, Braylon Meyers and Cassie Routt also scored for the Sailors. Ella Kinney added two assists, and Kendall Berghuis, Ava Freye and Addison Fisher had single helpers for Mona Shores (5-2-0).
PORTAGE NORTHERN 8, BATTLE CREEK CENTRAL 0: The Huskies climbed back up the five-hundred mark at 3-3-2 with this Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference home win Monday. Portage Northern has now outscored its opposition 25-22 and recorded its second shutout in the last three games.
CLINTON 8, HILLSDALE 0: Aubrey Lauer scored four goals and added an assist as the Redwolves cruised to the LCAA win Monday. Ashlyn Lehman also scored four goals, while Eden Frederick drew three assists and Lillian Trubiano, Allyson Schaffner and Lauren Sheneman had single assists. Jacklyn Whiting notched the shutout for Clinton (5-1-0, 2-0-0), which owns a 33-11 scoring edge with three clean sheets.
BERRIEN SPRINGS 1, ST. JOSEPH MICHIGAN LUTHERAN 0: Berrien Springs moved to 5-2-1 on the season and improved its scoring differential to 14-7 with this non-league win Monday.
CEDAR SPRINGS 8, SPARTA 0: Cedar Springs remained alone in first place in the new River Cities Alliance Conference with this shutout win over Sparta. Cedar Springs improved to 6-1-0 with the win and 4-0-0 in the conference. The team has outscored the opposition 32-5 with six shutouts.
EAST GRAND RAPIDS 3, GRAND RAPIDS CATHOLIC CENTRAL 1: The Pioneers took down Division 3 top-ranked Grand Rapids Catholic Central in this OKC-White Division clash.
NILES BRANDYWINE 8, EAU CLAIRE 0: Brandywine had a season-best output with eight goals and recorded its first win of the season in this non-conference victory.
HOLLY 3, LAKE FENTON 2: Holly continued its unbeaten season Monday with this Flint Metro League win over the Blue Devils. Abbie Hill scored twice and Alexis Lindley had a goal and an assist for the Bronchos (7-0-0, 4-0-0).
FRUITPORT 8, WYOMING GODWIN HEIGHTS 0: It was a freshmen connection Monday for Fruitport as five ninth-graders scored five of the eight goals for the Trojans. McKenna Joslyn led the way with two goals and an assist. Fellow freshmen Myla Parker, Pehyton Beardslee and Porter Johnson also scored, Makayla Boelkinds added two goals as a upperclassman and Haylee Beery also scored for Fruitport (4-3-0, 2-0-0) in this OKC-Silver Division contest.
GRAND BLANC 8, BAY CITY CENTRAL 0: Grand Blanc recorded its fifth straight shutout and fourth straight win Monday with this victory over the Wolves. During its streak, Grand Blanc has outscored the opposition 25-0 and own a 28-5 scoring differential overall this season. The Bobcats moved to 4-2-1 this season and 3-1-0 in the Saginaw Valley League.
