Kevin Boyd Joins Inside the Game After Leading Milwaukee to Continued Success
Inside the Game welcomes Milwaukee women’s soccer head coach Kevin Boyd as today’s featured guest, bringing with him more than two decades of head coaching experience and a track record of sustained excellence across multiple programs.
Now entering his fourth season at the helm of the Panthers, Boyd has continued Milwaukee’s long run of dominance in the Horizon League. Over his first three years, he has captured three consecutive regular-season and tournament championships, guiding the Panthers to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. His Milwaukee record stands at 36-14-10 (.683) overall, with an extraordinary 23-1-6 (.867) mark in Horizon League play.
2024 campaign saw Boyd’s side finish 12-7-2 overall and 9-0-1 in conference, dominating league play in virtually every statistical category. The Panthers led the Horizon League in shots, goals, assists, points, and shutouts, while ranking among the Top 15 nationally in multiple offensive categories. Boyd also oversaw individual honors, including Lainey Higgins (Player of the Year), Parker Donahugh (Goalkeeper of the Year), and Kayla Rollins (Offensive Player of the Year).
That success followed a 2023 season where Milwaukee posted a 12-3-5 record, finishing unbeaten in league play and ranking in the Top 25 nationally in scoring offense, points per game, and assists. Even in his debut season, Boyd set the tone—taking a young team to the NCAA Tournament after a late-season unbeaten run and nearly upsetting then-No. 6 Michigan State.
Boyd’s résumé stretches far beyond Milwaukee. He spent 20 years in the Pac-12, serving as head coach at Cal and Arizona State, where he became the all-time winningest coach at both programs. Across his career, he has now surpassed 250 career victories, coached in 17 NCAA Tournaments, and developed players who have gone on to the professional level—including U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan, a product of his Cal recruiting classes.
In addition to his collegiate career, Boyd has impacted the youth and club game, serving as Academy and Technical Director for Legends FC and coaching in the WPSL.
Boyd, who earned All-America honors as a defender at Tri-State (now Trine) University and later played professionally in Norway, remains a proven program-builder. His arrival at Milwaukee has already delivered championships and national recognition, with the Panthers poised to remain one of the Horizon League’s standard bearers.
Tune in to Inside the Game this morning as Jonathan Turner and the NSN team sit down with Kevin Boyd to discuss his journey, Milwaukee’s continued rise, and what lies ahead for the Panthers in 2025.
