Inside the Game Welcomes Ball State Head Coach Andy Stoots

(Shelby Township, MI) – On the next episode of Inside the Game, we welcome newly appointed Ball State head women’s soccer coach Andy Stoots, who was officially introduced by Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell on March 11, 2025.

Stoots arrives in Muncie with more than two decades of coaching experience and a proven track record of success across some of the nation’s top conferences. Most recently, he served as associate head coach at Missouri, where he helped guide the Tigers to multiple standout individual performances, including All-SEC selections Kylee Simmons, Grace Pettit, Milena Fischer, and Bella Hollenbach.

Prior to his four years in Columbia, Stoots made his mark at Louisville, helping the Cardinals to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019. His coaching stops also include Minnesota, where he was part of the program’s historic 2016 sweep of the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles, as well as successful stints at Samford, Belmont, and East Tennessee State.

native of Bristol, Tennessee, Stoots was a four-year letter winner and captain at Milligan University, setting program records for shutouts, goals-against average, and wins during his time as a goalkeeper. He launched his coaching career in 2003 at Troy and has since accumulated extensive experience in both the Big Ten and SEC, with three NCAA Tournament appearances across his résumé.

Ball State officials praised his tactical expertise and recruiting acumen, with Mitchell calling him “a leader with the breadth of experience to take our program forward.” Stoots himself expressed excitement for the opportunity, saying he is “grateful and humbled” to guide the Cardinals as they chase future Mid-American Conference titles.

Stoots and his wife Tiffany are raising three children—Ethan, Audrey, and Sawyer—and now look forward to joining the Ball State and Muncie communities.
