GLIAC Women’s Soccer: Grand Valley State Tops 2025 Preseason Coaches’ Poll
GLIAC — The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference unveiled its 2025 women’s soccer preseason poll on Friday, Aug. 22, with Grand Valley State slotted at No. 1 after earning six first-place votes and 62 points.
The Lakers dropped just one match last season (15-1-8) and reached the NCAA Quarterfinals. Under first-year head coach Katelyn Longino, GVSU returns 15 players from 2024, including five starters from the Elite Eight.
Saginaw Valley State was picked second with 51 points and one first-place vote after advancing to last year’s GLIAC Tournament final. Ferris State (48 points, one first-place vote) edged Northern Michigan (46) for third; the defending regular-season and tournament champion Wildcats enter a new era under head coach Erin Egolf and welcome 14 freshmen. Davenport checked in fifth with 41 points and one first-place vote following a 5-2-7 GLIAC mark and a first-round tournament upset of Ferris State. Michigan Tech and Purdue Northwest tied for sixth, with Parkside and Roosevelt rounding out the poll.
