Gio Reyna Joins Ownership Group of Fort Lauderdale United FC
U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Gio Reyna has added a new title to his growing career: club owner. The 22-year-old star has joined the ownership group of Fort Lauderdale United FC, a fast-rising organization in South Florida with teams across the United Soccer League (USL) structure.
The move boosts Fort Lauderdale United’s franchise valuation to $55 million, reflecting both the momentum behind the club and the growing appeal of South Florida as a soccer hub.
Fort Lauderdale United currently fields a women’s team in the Gainbridge Super League, with plans to launch a USL League One men’s team in 2026. The club also operates youth and academy programs, along with pre-professional men’s and women’s sides in USL League Two, the USL W League, and USL Academy.
Reyna said he was drawn to the club’s “comprehensive vision” for building a true soccer ecosystem in the region, from grassroots to the professional ranks.
“The ambition here is exciting,” Reyna said in a statement. “Fort Lauderdale United is building something special in South Florida, and I’m grateful to be part of this journey.”
Club officials highlighted not only Reyna’s international profile but also personal connections that made the partnership natural. Investor Hassan Pinto, who shares youth development ties with Reyna’s father, Claudio, and collegiate links with his mother, Danielle, helped facilitate the agreement.
While details of Reyna’s financial stake have not been disclosed, the addition of a U.S. international star to the ownership group signals the club’s intent to position itself among the most progressive and visible organizations in American soccer.
