FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP: African powerhouse ES Tunis trips up Los Angeles FC on 70th-minute goal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — African powerhouse ES Tunis picked up a second-half goal from Youcef Belaïli and the defense made it stand Friday as the side tripped up Los Angeles FC 1-0 at GEODIS Park in FIFA Club World Cup action.
It was both clubs’ second match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The loss drops LAFC to 0-2-0 in group play following a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on June 16. ES Tunis is no 1-1-0.
Despite the result, LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris delivered a standout performance, recording four saves to keep his side in the match.
Belaïli scored the game-winner for ES Tunis in the 70th minute, finishing at the back post after a scramble in the LAFC penalty area.
LAFC had its chances, including two first-half goals ruled out for offside. Denis Bouanga had a chance to equalize deep into stoppage time, but his penalty kick attempt was turned away.
