ECNL: ECNL Boys Announces Promotion of Folsom Lake Surf and Select MA to National League for 2026-27 Season

RICHMOND, Va. — ECNL Boys has officially announced the promotion of two standout organizations, Folsom Lake Surf and Select MA, to the national league for the 2026-27 season. The move marks a significant expansion of the ECNL footprint in both the Northern California and New England corridors, rewarding two clubs that have demonstrated sustained excellence within the ECNL Regional League (RL) platform.

The promotions serve as the latest validation of the ECNL’s merit-based pyramid, providing a clear pathway for high-performing clubs to ascend to the top tier of youth soccer in the United States.

Folsom Lake Surf: A Rapid Rise in Northern California

Based in one of California’s fastest-growing markets, Folsom Lake Surf joins the Northern Cal Conference following a historic run in the Regional League. The club made waves in 2025 by capturing the U14 ECNL Regional League Boys National Championship, the first national title in the program's history.

Currently, Folsom Lake Surf is a dominant force in a nearly 20-club Regional League, sitting in first or second place in four out of six age groups.

"This represents a major milestone for our club and an important step toward fulfilling our commitment to provide our players with the very best playing opportunities in the country," said Executive Director Fritz Libby. "Competing in the ECNL will allow our players and coaches to test themselves against top-level competition and gain greater exposure."

Founded in 1981, the club serves over 4,000 members and maintains a unique position as a community-centric organization with exclusive local government partnerships in Folsom.

Select MA: Fortifying the New England Corridor

Joining the New England Conference for the 2026-27 season, Select MA arrives as a premier organization serving the Greater Boston area, North Shore, and New Hampshire. The promotion coincides with the club’s upcoming 30th anniversary.

Select MA has shown remarkable depth across its age groups this year:

• U13 & U14: Both currently in playoff qualification positions.

• Pre-ECNL U12: Currently sits atop the Pre-ECNL Boys Northeast standings.

• Leadership: Boasts a staff with over 20 years of experience in elite U.S. soccer pathways.

"The ECNL platform represents the highest standard of competition and development in youth soccer," said Dan Colwell, ECNL Director - Boys Program. "Our goal has always been to build a club that develops elite players while shaping strong leaders and teammates."
