SHELBY TWP, Mich. — Before the college soccer world turns its attention to the 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy ceremony, fans will be able to revisit a key summer matchup featuring two of this year’s men’s finalists.

The USL League Two National Semifinal between Ballard FC and Flint City Bucks, played on July 27, 2025, will re-air tonight on the National Soccer Network (NSN) ahead of the MAC Hermann Trophy banquet in St. Louis. The match featured a head-to-head meeting between University of Washington senior Richie Aman and NC State junior Donavan Phillip, now two of the three finalists for college soccer’s most prestigious individual award.

The semifinal took place at Interbay Stadium in Seattle, where Ballard FC earned a 2-1 victory over Flint City Bucks to advance to the USL League Two National Championship. Joe Dale opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and Ballard withstood a strong second-half push from Flint City to secure its place in the final.

Earlier that day, Vermont Green FC also advanced to the national championship, defeating Dothan United FC in a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout following a scoreless draw at Virtue Field in Burlington, Vermont.

Ballard FC and Vermont Green FC later met in the USL League Two National Championship, where Vermont Green claimed the title, ending Ballard’s championship run. The match capped a postseason that showcased elite talent across the league, including several players who would go on to earn national collegiate recognition.

Tonight’s NSN re-air carries added significance as Aman and Phillip await the announcement of the 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy winner. Aman helped lead Washington to its first NCAA men’s soccer national championship, while Phillip guided NC State to a College Cup appearance, performances that earned both forwards spots among the nation’s elite.

The 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy winners will be announced later tonight at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, concluding a season that highlighted the growing connection between elite summer competition and top-level collegiate soccer.
