ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Union FC Macomb will not qualify for the USL League Two postseason and will not finish in the top two in the Great Leakes Division.

That didn’t stop the second-year program from playing spoiler Tuesday night.

Union FC Macomb likely took AFC Ann Arbor out of the postseason picture with a 4-2 road win in Great Lakes Division play at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School Holloway Stadium.

The win moved Union FC Macomb into sixth place in the Great Lakes Division at 4-6-1 with one way to go.

AFC Ann Arbor finishes 6-3-3 in the division with 21 points. If the Flint City Bucks gain at least one point in their final two divisional games against fifth-place Northern Indiana FC or eighth-place Lansing City Football then they will grab the other postseason berth out of the Great Lakes Division.

Midwest United (8-3-1, 25 points) has already clinched a spot. If the Bucks can win both of their games to gain six points, they will win the division with 27 points.

AFC Ann Arbor opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Fofana Taroaboubkary buried his shot on target.

Union FC Macomb answered right back with four consecutive goals – two in the first half and two in the second half – to open up a 4-1 lead.

Nour Aoude tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 23rd minute then put his team up for good at 2-1 with another tally in the 36th minute.

Andriy Bilous pushed the lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 53rd minute, while Mohamed Hammoud capped the scoring for Union FC Macomb, which now has 13 points.

Kyle Pierson scored a goal in the 62nd minute to pull one back, but the Mighty Oak could not rally their way back into the game which places their postseason hopes in serious jeopardy.

Sebastian Stanaj recorded the win in goal for Union FC Macomb, which scored a season high in goals. Union has been outscored 18-14 this season.

AFC Ann Arbor finishes the regular season with a 21-18 scoring edge but needs the Flint City Bucks to go 0-2-0 this week to have a chance at the second postseason slot out of the Great Lakes Division.
