USL CHAMPIONSHIP: Cedano, Diouf score as Detroit City FC blanks Miami FC
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Detroit City FC scored a goal in each half and climbed into fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-0 victory Saturday over visiting Miami FC at Keyworth Stadium.
Jaciel Cedano scored just before the half in the 44th minute, finishing off a cross from Darren Smith to stake the hosts to the 1-0 halftime lead.
It wasn’t until the game was in stoppage time at the end of the game before DCFC would score again. This time Ates Diouf knocked home a serve from Stephan Carroll at 90+5 and just one minute before the conclusion of the game to cap the scoring.
Carroll joined up with Devon Amoo-Mensah and Shane Wiedt to form a stout defensive effort. Carols Herrera gained the clean sheet in goal on the strength of five saves.
